Miss Atwell's sense of the occasion is as justified as her musical timing; not only does she adjust to the times; she anticipates them. Long before the demand for it has begun to wane she has stored her honky-tonk piano and her programme has taken a deeper sophistication. Her playing has lost none of its elan, its superb rhythm, but it is more sensitive without losing its directness of appeal
