British pianist boogie woogie & ragtime piano player.
Born February 27, 1914, Tunapuna, Trinidad.
Died February 28, 1983, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia.
Atwell was born in the colony of Trinidad before migrating to Britain. She enjoyed great popularity in Britain and Australia from the 1950s on with a series of boogie-woogie and ragtime hits, selling over 20 million records.
Her nickname was "The Queen of the Ivories" and she was an early idol of Elton John.
Her song credits appear @ ASCAP under the name, Una Winifred Levishohn, which was her married name.
