In 1960 Philips founded a pressing plant in Onitsha in a joint venture with C. T. Onyekwelu of Nigerphone. The plant was called Nigeria Records Ltd. In 1963 Philips founded a local branch which took over the pressing plant, that eventually became Phonogram Ltd. Nigeria.
