Sub-label of Sony Music Records Inc. owned by the late [a=Eiichi Ohtaki].
It began in 1975 as a sub-label of [l=ELEC records]. After Elec's bankruptcy in 1976 it passed to [l=Nippon Columbia Co., Ltd.], then in 1981 [l=CBS/Sony Inc.] (later [l=Sony Music Records Inc.]) 'Niagara' is a reference to Ohtaki's surname, 大瀧, which means 'big waterfall'
