Madhouse Records
[a=Kerri Chandler]'s label and production company.
Madhouse Records was founded in 1992 when Dublin-born music industry entrepreneur [a=Mel Medalie] met [a=Kerri Chandler] at [a=Todd Terry]'s studio in Brooklyn.
The label became an outlet for Kerri’s music, as well as tracks from his producer friends, with the first release, [m=50314], selling more than 100,000 copies on vinyl alone.
The singles and EPs that followed were mostly produced, co-produced or remixed by Kerri.
Parent company [l=Madhouse Records, Inc.] was dissolved in 1997 but the label continued with distribution via New York-based [l=Downtown 161].
In 2010 the entire catalogue was remastered and made available for digital download for the first time, including some previously unreleased tracks.
Label manager from May 2016 to October 2018: Simon Birkumshaw.
The label was relaunched in 2017, with vinyl distribution via [l=Above Board Distribution], until it was announced in July 2023 that it had ceased trading, with Kerri moving his productions to his [l=Kaoz Theory] label, while the remaining Madhouse Records catalogue would sit on [l=Champion].
