The Nipper-trademark was owned in Germany since 1917 by [l=Deutsche Grammophon-Aktiengesellschaft], and later, since 1937, by the [l=Deutsche Grammophon GmbH]. It accompanied their records on the [l=Grammophon] label. In 1949 it was sold to [l=Electrola Gesellschaft m.b.H.], which became [l=EMI Electrola GmbH] in 1972.
