Its current location was the site of the [i]Conservatoire de Musique[/i] from 1796-1911 (see ) and houses the famous [i]Theatre[/i], which was the site of the first performance of Hector Berlioz's [i]Symphonie fantastique[/i] in 1830, as well as the first French performances of Beethoven's Third and Fifth Symphonies.
