Floy Joy

British soul/pop band from Sheffield, signed to [l=Virgin] and active in the 1980s, had moderate success in the UK, New Zealand and Australia.

After the debut single "Answer Through Me", produced by [a=Andy Hernandez], lead singer Elana Harris was replaced by Carroll Thompson for their first album (produced by [a=Don Was]) including three singles which made the UK charts.

After 'Operator' only Michael Ward remained to reshape Floy Joy as an all-male band along with Desny Campbell and Robert E. Clarke. Another album was released before disbanding.

[a=Alison Moyet] covered "Weak In the Presence of Beauty" and it became a top 10 hit in spring 1987.
