
Don Schlitten
American jazz record producer

Schlitten founded the label in 1955 with Harold Goldberg and . His credits for Signal included work with , , and . Signal was sold to in the late 1950s, and Schlitten worked as a freelance producer through the 1960s, including at Records.
At Prestige, Schlitten was both art director (photographer and designer), in charge of all album covers, and recording director. He also created the and was responsible for the series as well. After more than ten years, Don ended his association with Prestige in 1971.
In 1972, Don and co-founded Records, producing and the Newport Jazz Festival 1972 releases from the label. He and Fields also worked together at and .
Fields and Schlitten ceased working together in the mid-1970s; Fields continued at Muse, and Schlitten founded in 1975, where he produced [a=Barry Harris], [a=Al Cohn], and [a=Charles McPherson], among others. He also oversaw the release of many unissued bebop sessions.
