Konung Gustaf III

Swedish king (1746-1792) of the House of Holstein-Gottorp.

His Majesty King Gustav III loved theater and opera, and he himself wrote plays, sometimes acting in and directing them. However, during a masked ball at , he was shot and mortally wounded, and after thirteen days of agony, Gustav III passed away at Stockholm Palace on March 29, 1792.
