Moonglow

Belgian-US American label founded by [a=René Jan van Hoogten] a.k.a. [a=Ray Maxwell].

Originally a subsidiary of [l=Ronnex Records], in the late 1950s René was sent to the USA by his brother [a=Albert Van Hoogten] to set up the label there. The label was first based in New York, later in Hollywood. An independent American branch was also founded: [l=Moonglow Records Inc.] In 1963 it signed a distribution deal with [l=ATCO Records]. In 1967, after their best known act was leased to [l=Philles Records] and no new successes were found, Van Hoogten sold the masters to [l=Verve Records].
