Co-founded by [a=Charles Koppelman], [l=Select Records] head Martin Bandier and Stephen Swid who purchased the music publishing unit of [l=CBS Records] in 1986. The trio founded as a production company in 1989 prior to selling it to [l=EMI] and launching the [l=Capitol Records]-distributed label.
It was consolidated with [l=Chrysalis] and [l=EMI Records USA] to create EMI Record Group USA in 1994.
The label's artists included [a=Vanilla Ice], [a=Jon Secada], [a=Wilson Phillips], [a=Blur], [a=Technotronic], [a=Billy Dean], [a=Lonnie Gordon], [a=Boy George], [a=Jesus Jones], [a=Selena] and actress [a=Milla Jovovich].
