Wax Poetics Records
Label founded in 2007 by [a=Andre Torres] and [a=Brian DiGenti].
The label manager between 2007 and 2010 was [a=Amir Abdullah].
Wax Poetics was founded in Brooklyn in 2001 as a quarterly print publication dedicated to vintage and contemporary jazz, funk, soul, disco, Latin, hip-hop, reggae, blues, and R&B; 66 issues were published between 2001 and 2016. The magazine expanded its operations in this time to include apparel sales, a record label, and a book publishing imprint.
Torres resigned from Wax Poetics in February 2016 and the record label has been inactive since 2018.
Wax Poetics was reborn as a Netherlands-based subscription-only publication in 2021 first with two "special collectors editions" then a second volume. There is no connection between Wax Poetics Records and the new owners of the magazine.
