The Victrola label was reserved for releases and initially served to distinguish only the most expensive records. It first appeared on the "Grand Prize"-style label in 1908. By 1913, the Victrola label was used for the entire line, but it was temporarily discontinued when Victor labels were re-designed in 1914. However, the Victrola designation was revived for the full line in 1917 and remained in use through the early 1930s. The label was discontinued following 's adoption of the brand for its newer phonographs.
The Victrola brand was revived once more in the 1960s for a budget-priced series of classical releases as [l=RCA Victrola]. It is now owned by and remains in use on CDs.
