Triangle

American budget label, produced from September 1922 to July 1925, when the Bridgeport Die and Machine Company of Bridgeport, Conn. went bankrupt. Records sold first for 50, later for 75 cents and were at first only distributed on the east coast and in mid-Atlantic states, from 1924 on also as far away as Detroit, Michigan.

Triangle released mostly [l=Paramount] matrices. In 1924, it switched to [l=Emerson Records (2)] and [l=Blu-Disc] recordings, but also started releasing its own masters (marked with a BDM-prefix).

Records were assigned to one of three series:
The 9000 standard series (almost 100 issues) focused on popular instrumental and vocal records.
The 11000 dance music series (almost 500 issues) released dance music and popular vocals.
The 15000 classical music series (almost 100 issues) featured symphony orchestras and instrumental soloists, usually violinists.

Notable jazz releases include Triangle 11347 with "Rainy Nights" by [a=Duke Ellington And His Washingtonians], two [a=Jelly Roll Morton] sides on Triangle 11397, and some unreleased [l=Paramount] sides by [a=Fletcher Henderson] and the [a=Louisiana Five].
