The initial label heads were DJs [a=Baz Fe Jazz] and [a=Gilles Peterson] - the name came from their initials but was dubbed Beat Goes Public - until their departure in the early 1990s. [a=Russ Dewbury] was in charge for most of the 1990s. Current label head is [a=Dean Rudland].
