Founded in 1964 as an R&B unit of Warner Bros. Records; active until 1968 when its roster and back catalog were folded into the parent label. Its president was Bob Krasnow, who soon founded Blue Thumb Records after Loma was shut down and later led Elektra/Asylum Records in its most profitable period (ca. 1974-82).
Appears on labels as "Loma" on it's early imprints and in 1968 changed to "Loma Records"
Loma's roster included J.J. Jackson, Ike and Tina Turner, members of James Brown's band, recording solo on the side, Lorraine Ellison, the The Three Degrees and Linda Jones. Redd Foxx was brought to the label after Frank Sinatra intervened in his contractual battle with Dooto Records in 1966.

The best Loma singles, B-sides and album tracks were compiled on the Warner Archives double-CD anthology The Best of Loma Records: The Rise and Fall of a 1960's Soul Label in 1995.
