1960s-1970s soul label from New Orleans, Louisiana, founded by Joe Banashak and Larry McKinley in 1959. Soon after signing a distribution deal with Imperial Records, Inc., the company had a No. 1 hit in 1961 with Ernie K-Doe's "Mother-in Law". Allen Toussaint was the house producer in their peak years between 1961 & 1963, including the production of "Mother-in Law".

Minit was acquired along with Imperial by Liberty Records, Inc. in 1963. The label was relaunched as a soul music label later in the decade with Bobby Womack and Ike And Tina Turner on its roster. Along with the other Liberty labels, Minit was consolidated into United Artists Records in 1970.
