It starts being used in early 1982. For example on 6439461 which is advertised and pictured in the March 1982 edition of Gramophone. It was registered as a trademark in June 1984.

EMI's first digital classical release was 24691082 in 1979. Early digital releases were initially promoted with a triangular digital sticker on the from cover, and the same logo was often incorporated into back cover and label artwork.
