ALMO Sounds was launched in 1994 by Herb Alpert & Jerry Moss, former owners of [b][l=A&M Records][/b].

The label was distributed through [b]Geffen[/b] in the US, [b]Pinnacle[/b] in the UK, [b]MCA[/b] in Europe, [b]Festival[/b] in Australia, and [b]Pioneer Music[/b] in Japan. US distribution changed to [b]Interscope[/b] in 1998.

In 2000, Almo Sounds was sold to [b][l=Universal][/b] and remains an imprint label.
