At the peak of production (in the mid-to-late 1970s) the company was the ultimate parent to numerous subsidiary holdings - including - publishing / production / management / sound recording companies and a dedicated pressing plant [l=Island Records Manufacturing Ltd] which was set up in the vicinity of EMI plant in Middlesex who maintained the production of 7" singles.
In 1989 the company (group) was acquired by Polygram N.V., subsequently in 1998 Polygram N V. was acquired by the Canadian firm " The Seagram Company Ltd." who already owned the Universal Music Group. On the 29th Mar 1999 the company was renamed
Subsequently on the 25th Jun 2014 , was renamed back to "Island Records Ltd."
