Ballen Record Co.

Originally founded in 1946 by Ivin Ballen (also known as Ivan Ballen) as the Ballen Record Co. in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. A pressing plant factory was built to make shellac 78’s for the label as there were no plants to contract these. The plant began to take orders from other established labels and soon became a full-time pressing plant for third party labels. The record label gradually diminished and the company became a pressing plant only.

It was known for the labels 20th Century Records, Gotham and Apex Records.

It acquired Gotham Record Corp. and its label Gotham in 1957.

In 1959 it was renamed to Diskmakers and in 1989 to Disc Makers
