Formerly known as [l=Pye Records]. When the rights to the Pye name expired, the label changed its name in September 1980 to PRT ([i][b]P[/b]recision [b]R[/b]ecords and [b]T[/b]apes[/i]). See also [l=PRT Records] and [l=Precision Records & Tapes Limited] for company credits.

The label ceased operation in 1989. The back catalog was acquired in 1990 by [l=Castle Communications] which itself was subsequently purchased by [l=Universal Music Group] unit [l=Sanctuary Records] but following Universal's acquisition of EMI Group's US and selected international interests and Virgin Records Ltd, the corporation had to sell-off some of its assets. As such, the Sanctuary Records catalogue was purchased by [l=BMG Rights Management UK].
