The label was introduced approximately in 1988. Only a couple of years later, the label was redesigned and rebranded to just [l=TELDEC].
The "TELDEC Classics" name only reappeared as label for a short time from approx. 2002 to 2004. It is also commonly mentioned as copyright holder and can be entered as such when credited as such.

In the late 1980's, acquired the German label. The classical side of was renamed to TELDEC Classics and came under control of a new company called .
In 2001, the TELDEC Classics label was relocated to London and came under the Warner Classics umbrella.
