Red Rhino Records
Defunct UK indie label founded in York by Tony Kostrzewa (1949 - 2008).
The label developed out of the opening of the Red Rhino Records shop in June 1977. Originally located at 9 Gillygate, York, Red Rhino released its' first record, a 7" single, in 1979 with the catalogue number RED 1. In 1985, the label relocated its' operation to The Coach House, Fetter Lane, York, and finally to The Grain Store, Eldon St, York. From this address Red Rhino issued its' last release, catalogue number RED 92, before ceasing operations with the financial collapse of Red Rhino Distribution in December 1988.
Red Rhino also had a Belgian division, Red Rhino Europe, that was distributed by Play It Again Sam [PIAS].
