Karusell
Do NOT confuse with the German label (with two "S")
Swedish pop and jazz label founded 1953 by Carl-Gustaf Niren and bandleader [a=Simon Brehm]. Important in introducing jazz in Scandinavia as licence releaser for [a=Norman Granz]'s jazz labels in the 50's and 60's. Karusell releases were also available in Norway and Denmark, via the parent company's affiliates.
In 1962 the label was acquired by [l=Deutsche Grammophon GmbH]. From the early 1970s the label only remained in use in Sweden. In other countries, [l=Karussell] - with double 's' - was used.
In 2014, only the German counterpart still exists but under a slightly different spelling . They had used the same logo, with inversed colors, until 1980.
