
Waterfront Records
[i]Waterfront Records[/i] was based in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. The label was started in 1982 by Steven Stavrakis while he was working at . [i]Waterfront's[/i] first release was the J.F.K. and The Cuban Crisis EP '[r=1558486]' (January 1983).
In 1985 Stavrakis and [i]Phantom[/i] co-worker Frank Cotterell opened the [i]Waterfront[/i] shop in York Street Sydney. Later joined by Chris Dunn (another ex-[i]Phantom[/i] colleague) the store move to Sydney's Haymarket and eventually back to York street where the dream ended in March 2000.
Subsequently, the name [i]Waterfront[/i] was appropriated by who released a number of records utilising the imprint. This was done without the knowledge of the 'real Waterfront' label owner (Stavrakis, or his partner Dunn).
