UK
Formed in 1998 by Databass (Databass), Freakaboom has steadily built itself up to a point where it is now considered to be one of the key underground labels currently pushing the boundaries of this thing we call breakbeat. After the explosion/implosion of Big Beat, Freakaboom was one of the first labels to step in to the vacuum in an attempt to define a sound that would open the doors for producers across the world. Releasing formative tunes for artists like Koma + Bones and 2 Sinners as well as providing a steady flow of debut releases for new producers, DJs from across the genre (and the planet) quickly began to take notice of this little East London label that relied, not on hype or mass marketing, but on a string of cutting edge releases that had dance floors jumping. Now, just over 3 years down the track, Freakaboom has grown to become home for some of the scenes best rising talents. Kraymon, Junk Magnet, Hedrock Valley Beats, Objects to name a few. Not one to rest on its laurels though, the label still maintains as a high priority the discovery of new, unsigned and unreleased talent.
