Recorded by the Crown Record Company of New York, these discs were pressed by managed production of Crown and its subsidiary and labels. Crown had an informal relationship with , and although most Crown releases drew on their own masters, several were made from masters. Likewise, some Crown masters were issued on ' label. Crown introduced fine-groove, long-playing records shortly before going out of business in Fall, 1933. Much Crown material was retained by , who later dubbed it onto releases in his , and other labels in the late 1930s-early 1940s.
