Hollywood-based independent label founded in 1956 by [a=Richard Vaughn] that was among the pioneers of stereophonic recording. Hifi Records mainly output was Jazz- & Pop-Instrumentals as well as it released influential albums in Exotica-music.
They were the first diskery to release 4-track stereo tape in October 1958. At this time, they were releasing in 4 formats: mono and stereo disks, 2-track and 4-track stereo tape.
