Chaton Recordings
Recording studio in Scottsdale, Arizona (USA), opened ca. 1976 and owned and operated by Ed Ravenscroft and Marie Ravenscroft. It also functioned as label for local productions (sometimes appearing as just "Chaton").
The studio had 8-track, 16-track and 24-track facilities and also offered video services. Apart from the state-of-the-art equipment it was also notable for its owning a reconditioned Steinway grand piano from 1881. In 1982 it inaugurated a 24-track mobile recording truck which was dubbed CAT (Chaton Audio Truck).
In 2000 Otto D’Agnolo bought the gear and licensed the name, then built a new studio in downtown Phoenix under the name Chaton Studios.
Engineers who have worked here: Ben Taylor (chief, 1980-1986), Ed Ravenscroft, Steven Moore (3), Otto D'Agnolo, Steven Escallier, Richard Spector.
