US label, record company started in the late 1950's by California disc jockey [a=Art Laboe] who popularized the "oldies but goodies" format on radio "KPOP" during the "Art Laboe Show". Though compilation albums of older material are now commonplace, Laboe was among the first (if not the first) to license material from several labels for the first successful "oldies" albums to hit the market, releasing the compilations on the [b]Original Sound[/b] label.

In 1963 the gained the engineering and production skills of [a=Paul Buff].
