Cie Française Du Gramophone (Compagnie Française du Gramophone) was a French subsidiary company of established in 1899.
Its head office was in Paris, with a factory first in Ivry-Sur-Seine (since 1907) and then at Nogent-Sur-Marne.
The shellac pressing plant started to apply a matrix scheme "Mx #####" in the late 1920s, where x is the format identifier:
'3' for 10" (e.g. M3-77850)
'6' for 12" (e.g. M6-60401).
The 5 digit numeral code is a unique plant identifier and both numbers can be added as LCCN numbers with Pressed By.
Usually (but not always) both runouts share the first 4 digits and the last one is incremented.

In 1936, [b](EMI)[/b] (owner of The Gramophone Co. Ltd.) effects a merger of Compagnie Francaise De Gramophone with Compagnie Générale de Etablissements Pathé Fréres (French subsidiary of ) to form .
The shellac pressing plant also moved to Chatou (Yvelines) in 1936 (see [l=Pathé Marconi, Chatou]). Matrices higher than Mx-83070 belong there.
