British label launched in 1950, before merging with [l=Pye Records] to form in 1955. It was later used again on some compilation CDs between 1988 and 1992.

Initial releases in 1950 were shellac 10" (using NY and BY prefixes) and 12" (using NZ and BZ prefixes). Long playing microgroove records appeared in 1951 (using LPY and LPZ prefixes for 10" and 12" respectively).

From the mid 1950s Nixa distributed recordings in the UK, Commonwealth and parts of Europe made by various US and overseas companies:

- recordings using the "PLP" prefix.
- recordings using the "QLP" prefix.
