Olmsted Sound Studios

The studio, owned by Henry Olmsted, opened 2nd of Dec. 1954 in New York. Olmsted cut lacquers for Audio Fidelity, United Artists, and Atlantic Records, among others.

Head engineer Dick Olmsted is sometimes mis-credited as Dick Omstead. Other engineers known to have worked here are Gene Radice & Bill Radice.

Lacquers cut by Olmsted Sound Studios will usually have "OSS#" followed by a 7-digit number in vinyl runout matrix, with the last digit often in subscript relative to the others. This can be credited as "Lacquer Cut At". Note that the OSS can appear to be DSS. The A-side and B-side usually have sequential numbers.
