The roots of this company reach way back to the year 1945, when company "Sociedade Interamericana de Representações" (Sinter) was established.
In 1955, Sinter was renamed to Companhia Brasileira De Discos Phonogram (CBD).
In 1958, Philips acquired CBD.
In 1971, the company was renamed to Companhia Brasileira De Discos Phonogram.
In 1978, the company was renamed to Polygram Discos Ltda.
In 1984, the company's name was changed to Polygram do Brasil Ltda.
In 1999 with the purchase of Polygram by Seagram, the company was renamed to Universal Music Ltda..
