Formerly known as [l=Disques Carrere]. Carrere specialised mainly in dance-music (from disco to new beat and early house) and French chanson with a back catalogue high on novelty factor. Most of its output was licensed from other labels or released in conjunction with other specialised brands as [l=Clever], [l=Formule 1] or [l=Julisa]. Distributed in the USA first by [l=Atlantic] and then CBS Records.

Carrere was bought out by Warner in 1989/90 and the company / imprint was renamed . Claude Carrère remained president of Carrere Music until he retired in 1995, when Warner renamed it .
