US soul jazz label founded by [a=Creed Taylor] in July 1971, as a subsidiary label of [l=CTI Records].

The label was formed in order to showcase more 'commercial' artists than CTI, with a focus on R&B jazz and blues-oriented jazz music.

The label became inactive around 1979, was revived again in 1983 with [r=1477465] from , again in 1993 with the soundtrack [m=810347], and finally with the acid-jazz project [r=7353215] in 1996. Many of the label's titles remained in print in Japan with the series.
