When the rights to the Pye name expired, the label changed its name to Pye/[l=PRT] (Precision Records & Tapes), around July 1980 and then to PRT only, effective 7 October 1980. Precision Records & Tapes Ltd. handled distribution for [l=BBC Records and Tapes], Jive, and former Pye subsidiary [l=Calibre] Records (alternately known as [l=Calibre + Plus!]) as well as the UK distribution of [l=Casablanca Records], and [l=Buddah Records].

The pressing plant in Mitcham was operating under this name from July 1980 to May 1981.

Precision Records & Tapes Ltd. ceased operations in late 1989. The label's back catalog was acquired in 1990 by [l=Castle Communications]. The Pye/PRT catalog is now owned by [l=Universal Music Group] unit [l=Sanctuary Records]. The company was dissolved on 11 December 2013.
