Known for its (and ), Lansdowne Studios was the creation of recording supervisor , with assistance from engineers and who found the premises.
Denis Preston had supervised many recordings in the early to mid 1950s (mainly whilst at ), and continued at Lansdowne. Usually these issues have a 'Record Supervision/Ltd' credit. The building housing the studio was constructed in 1902 by William Flodthart, a South African diamond millionaire who wanted to provide a place where struggling painters could work. The main recording studio was originally a squash court, and the control room the smoking room.
The studio, by then owned by Adrian Kerridge, closed in September 2006, and was converted into private housing.
