Gramzapis was one of several plants used by the label respectively record company (please check period of production to find the correct form of the record company). [b]Do not confuse this label with pressings from[/b] , whose production was transferred here in 1978.
Московский Опытный Завод «Грамзапись» (translated as Moscow Experimental Plant "Gramzapis") was a Moscow based vinyl (initially) and CD pressing plant owned by label [l=Мелодия]. May appear as [b]МОЗГ[/b]. The plant also contained its own recording studio. Starting production in 1988, it was the first and only CD manufacturer in USSR. After dissolution of the Soviet Union it became a joint-stock company . It was the largest producer of pirated discs in the post-Soviet period until it closed in the mid-2000s.
