WEA Music Of Canada, Ltd.

In June 1972 [l=Kinney Music Of Canada, Ltd.] was renamed to [b]WEA Music of Canada, Ltd.[/b] (a.k.a. [b][l=WEA Musique Du Canada Ltée.][/b] in French) as the new Canadian branch of the WEA [Warner, Elektra, Atlantic] company - a division of [l=Warner Communications]. The name remained through the end of 1990, when beginning in 1991, became [l=Warner Music Canada Ltd] - a subsidiary of the US-based .

May 1973 the company began using price codes on the spines of LPs and at the end of the graphic on cassette releases. The price code was a four-digit string indicating retail price (e.g., $7.98 retail price = 0798 price code).

WEA Canada introduced the Super C Cassette format in mid-1983. These used digital sub-masters, improved high-grade tape, included test tones, and were recorded using Dolby HX Pro and B Noise Reduction.
