World-renowned concert venue for over 150 years, best known for its annual series of summer classical music concerts called "The Proms", however during other times of the year, holds concerts across genres – classical to jazz to rock to electronic, et al.
The Royal Albert Hall is a registered charity, and is also known as the Royal Albert Hall of Arts and Sciences.
The hall has a monumental 32' concert organ: in its original form (IV/P/111) built by Henry Willis & Sons in 1871, it was enlarged in 1924 and 1933 by Harrison & Harrison (IV/P/146), who also overhauled it in the 1970s; beeing again in a state of disrepair by the end of the 20th century, the instrument was extensively rebuilt and reorganized by Mander Organs from 2002 to 2004.
