Associated Recording Studios was an independent recording and mastering studio in the music district of New York City, near the famous Brill Building. It opened in 1946 in a location on Broadway, then moved to a larger space in 1961 to 7th Avenue near 48th Street, at the northern end of Times Square. Associated was owned and operated by Nat Schnapf (Nathan “Nat” Schnapf) and Paul Friedberger, who met while working as radar technicians at Western Electric during World War II. The studio closed in 1985.
