
Mandioca
[i]"Mandioca, La Madre de los Chicos"[/i] was an Argentine independent label dedicated to the new vanguard Argentine music of the era. Founded in 1968 by the owners of the printing company [i]Mano Editora[/i] and with Javier Arroyuelo and Rafael López Sánchez (who would soon move to Europe), they released the debut albums by [a=Moris], [a=Manal] and [a=Vox Dei (2)], during its short existence Mandioca issued the aforementioned debut albums, two compilations, and 21 singles. The owners of the label would also operate the Agency [i]Mambo Show[/i] to coordinate the band's live acts.
Manal later moved to RCA due to differences with Mandioca. The label would disappear in 1970 owing to financial problems. It's founder, [a=Jorge Álvarez], would later fund [l=Talent (4)] on [l=Microfon].
This label, together with the bar [i]La Perla[/i] and [a=Billy Bond (2)]'s [i]La Cueva[/i] bar can be considered the birthplace of Argentine Rock.
