In late 1992, as part of the celebration of the relaunch of Salsoul Records, Joe Cayre and his son, Jack Cayre formed Double J Records as a "new generation" subsidiary label of Salsoul specializing in targeting the current club/house music market with remixes of the classics from the Salsoul catalog as well as new material from the up-and-coming artists of the time.
