Volition
Australian label, founded in 1984 by Andrew Penhallow (who also operated GAP Records and Factory Records Australasia). Volition wound down its operations during the mid-1990s (96/98). For legal purposes as copyright indications, please use the company/entity 'Volition Records'.
By researching Volition's relationship to its distributors (as shown on the releases), it is possible to ascertain that:
- From 1984 to 1988 Volition releases were distributed by CBS Records Australia Limited.
- It's not clear during 1989 which company distributed Volition releases.
- From 1990 to approx. mid-1992 Volition releases were either distributed by BMG Arista / Ariola Limited and/or co-released with BMG.
- From approx. mid-1992 to 1998 Volition releases were exclusively licensed to Sony Music Australia Limited and often co-released with Sony Music.
