Established in 1955 as a mail order record club, releasing all styles of music. In 1960 [b]EMI[/b] acquired a controlling interest (75%), however they did not publicly admit owing the company and subsidiaries until 1965. The World Record Club Limited operated as an immediate subsidiary of until 1973 (later ). On the 1st Nov 1973 the company was renamed .
