US label, founded in New York in 1937 as Jefferson Travis Radio Corporation, incorporated in 1942, later Musicraft Recording Corporation from 1947. Jazz became more prominent in the repertory after Albert Marx joined the company as A&R in 1944; he resigned in spring 1948. By 1949, Musicraft had recorded more than 1,000 titles, mostly of jazz. Among artists recording for the company were Teddy Wilson, Duke Ellington, Dizzy Gillespie, and Sarah Vaughn. Musicraft filed for bankruptcy in 1948.
In the 1970s, the label was revived by Albert Marx, by then president of Trend and Discovery Records. Many of these recording were reissued on the budget label Royale as 45rpm EP's & LP's. For example 1331223 and 1236145
