ΕΜΙΑΛ / EMIAL was a Greek record company, not a label on its own. It was a joint venture between [l=Electric & Musical Industries Ltd.] and [l=Αφοί Λαμπρόπουλοι]. Established on 15 September 1969, it was active with that name until 1976/77. It succeeded Lambropoulos Bros in marketing the EMI associated labels locally.
The name is an acronym: (in Greek) [b]EMI[/b] + [b]Α[/b]δελφοί [b]Λ[/b]αμπρόπουλοι = ΕΜΙ + ΑΛ = ΕΜΙΑΛ / (in English) [b]EMI[/b] + [b]A[/b]delfoí [b]L[/b]ambrópouloi = EMI + AL = EMIAL).

Some very early releases feature EMIAL only in Greek: either as ΕΜΙΑΛ (ΕΜΙ - ΑΔΕΛΦΟΙ ΛΑΜΠΡΟΠΟΥΛΟΙ Α.Ε.) or as ΕΜΙΑΛ (ΕΜΙ - ΑΦΟΙ ΛΑΜΠΡΟΠΟΥΛΟΙ), while on rare occasions it is listed only in English. However, in the majority of releases, until around 1976/77, the company name is bilingual, ΕΜΙΑΛ / EMIAL, with the respective full company name underneath: ΕΜΙ - ΑΦΟΙ ΛΑΜΠΡΟΠΟΥΛΟΙ / EMI-LAMBROPOULOS BROS. LTD. (variants: EMI Lambropoulos / EMI-Lambropoulos Bros. / LAMBROPOULOS BROTHERS LIMITED), either unboxed (in the early years) or boxed (in later years).
